Re: Way to go, West Virginia!
It's not a question of whether or not God is capable of forcing an issue, or making sure certain things happen that must happen, since clearly with God all things are possible - but God's express will, His desire, His hopes and dreams for us - as revealed in His Word - is for us to be offered a choice and then to make the right choice based upon His Word, in harmony with His will, His purpose, His meaning for our lives and nations (Isa. 55:7-9). That's why we pray, "Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven." We're praying that we'll be spiritually in tune with God and seek His Will, not our own, and submit Father knows best and not argue about it. If God's Will is automatically done, where's our will, our freedom of choice, and why would we bother praying for it?
Matthew 26:39
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
God's Will is revealed in His Word that Israelites should only elect another Israelite.
Deuteronomy 17
15 you shall surely set a king over you whom the LORD your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.
That doesn't mean God will prevent us from doing it, just like He doesn't prevent us from a host of other sins. His Word speaks of examples of leaders He didn't approve of but permitted.
Hosea 8:4
They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them
Is that clearer? And just because I didn't answer immediately, delay is not denial. After all, I am only human and on a "billion" other forums...

how is it possible for man to go against the will of God? If God wants something to happen, don't you think that it is within his power to MAKE IT HAPPEN? |

So, how is it that if it is against the will of God, how could Obama possibly win? |
